Leeds United are not doing so well in the Championship at the moment.

Neil Redfearn has been quoted as by Inside Futbol that Leeds United are a soft team.

The former Leeds head coach believes that opposition teams have noticed that as well.

“The Utopia for me is playing unbelievable passing football – get it down, play through the thirds and out-football people, score at the other end and get a clean sheet,” Inside Futbol quotes Redfearn as saying. “That’s the Utopia, but Brian Clough used to say it’s good until they turn up.

“They have watched Leeds and everybody turns up, front pressed Leeds and been physical with them.

“They have watched them and they have basically said, ‘you stand off Leeds and let them play they will murder you but you get into them, they are soft’. There is softness about them and that’s really obvious for me.”

Under Thomas Christiansen, Leeds have played good and passing football which has been pleasing to the eye.

The West Yorkshire outfit’s recent results, though, have underlined the need to play a different way when needed.

The Championship is a very hard and competitive domestic league, and it would not be possible for the Whites to play pretty football for 46 matches.

However, it must not be forgotten that every single team in the Championship will go through a bad spell.

Given the form that Cardiff City are at the moment, it was not exactly an embarrassment that Leeds lost to him.

Winning against Sheffield Wednesday is always tough, although last weekend’s lost to Reading a Elland Road was unexpected and came as a massive disappointment.

Leeds will return to action this weekend when they take on Bristol City in the Championship.
