The former Leeds academy director had some harsh words about Paul McKay and Billy Whitehouse.
Leeds United lost to Sutton United in the FA Cup this afternoon. A penalty from Jamie Collins saw the non-league side take the win and send Leeds out of the competition.
It was a strange team selection from Leeds. Garry Monk decided to bring in several young players, including Paul McKay and Billy Whitehouse.
Neither did much to excite in a poor performance all over from Leeds and one former Leeds coach was not impressed with their presence in the first-team.

Neil Redfearn, who was also the former academy director at Thorp Arch, has been commenting on the performance of the young pair and suggested that Leeds have better players in their youth system. He told TV Yorkshire:
“They’re not the best under-23s at Leeds United so why they got included I don’t know. Obviously, that’s backfired because it was a performance that didn’t bode well for the team going into Wednesday’s game.
“It’s a big game now at Blackburn. They’ve got to get their best side out at Blackburn and get the three points there.”

Leeds have helped to develop some top young talent in recent times but it was hard to see how these two might follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ronaldo Vieira, Charlie Taylor or Kalvin Phillips.
Leeds’ team selection backfired on Monk today and there is no doubt that he wants to strengthen his team, with this performance hopefully a sign of what might be needed.
Hopefully the confidence of the young pair is not too badly impacted by the poor result today.
