Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has been speaking to Radio Yorkshire after the Whites’ 2-1 defeat at home to Derby County.

Leeds headed into Tuesday’s clash knowing the importance of a victory, and things looked to be going their way when summer signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga opened the scoring shortly after kick-off.

However, a second-half brace from Sam Winnall gave Derby all three points and left Leeds fans and players alike to wonder where it all went wrong.

“I look at the whole package going forward and whether it’s a little bit disjointed or whether it lacks shape going forward, it just lacks a little bit of momentum as well,” Redfearn told Radio Yorkshire.

There is certainly a case for the disjointed comment, with Leeds possessing the individual talent but unable to get them all clicking together thus far.

While Samu Saiz is excelling week after week, the same cannot be said for some of his fellow summer signings, with Ezgjan Alioski particularly frustrating and Lasogga hit-and-miss despite another goal this week.

If Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen can solve the club’s problems there is a good chance they will still mount a sustained promotion push this season. However it is down to the players to start performing well together, taking Saiz as the perfect example.
