Leeds United defender Conor Shaughnessy played against Newport County at Elland Road in the EFL Cup earlier this week.
The former Leeds head coach was impressed with the performance of Shaughnessy for Leeds against Newport County at home earlier this week.
The Whites got the better of Newport 5-1 at Elland Road in the second round of the EFL Cup.
Shaughnessy started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, and Redfearn was impressed with the 21-year-old’s performance.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-18 international played as a central defender despite being a midfielder by trade.
Redfearn has praised the youngster, who joined Leeds in the summer of 2016 after leaving Reading, and has said that he has a very bright future.
“I think he is built for the job,” Redfearn told Radio Yorkshire about Shaughnessy. “He has got good feet. He is obviously a midfield player by trade, but more than comfortable at centre-half.
“The one thing that impresses me for such a young lad is his positional play and his decision-making. He reads the game so well, and he has got a very bright future.”
Leeds will return to action on Saturday evening when they take on Nottingham Forest away from home at the City Ground in the Championship.
The West Yorkshire outfit will be aiming to pick up all three points from the encounter, but it is not going to be easy.
