Neil Redfearn has told TV Yorkshire that he expects Leeds United to maintain their playoff push by beating Burton Albion at Elland Road on Saturday.

Leeds beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at Molineux last weekend to move 10th in the Championship and three points adrift of the top six.

Garry Monk’s side ride the crest of a wave into Saturday’s contest after beating Norwich City on penalties to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup this week.

The clash finished 1-1 after 90 minutes – and 2-2 after extra time – but it has now been well over a month since the Whites lost a game at Elland Road – a 1-0 defeat by Huddersfield Town way back on September 10.

United have won four and drawn two of the six home outings since that day in a stat which is quite ominous for Burton, who are yet to win away from the Pirelli Stadium this season – three defeats and four draws from seven games on the road.

Asked by TV Yorkshire if he was confident of a Leeds win, Redfearn responded: “Yeah, I am. I don’t think it’ll be a foregone conclusion. I don’t think [Burton’s away form] counts for anything because I think every game in the Championship is tough.

“But I just think at this moment in time that Leeds have that focus and that determination to get over the line, so I see Leeds getting a win yeah.”

On paper, it has a home win written all over it but, as the ex-Whites boss says, nothing is guaranteed in the Championship.
