The midfielder was making an increasingly rare start and shined in the FA Cup clash.
Leeds United are through to the next round of the FA Cup after a hard-fought win against Cambridge United in the third round.
The Yorkshire club struggled at times against the League Two side and were 1-0 down at half-time. However, they ended up winning the game 2-1 after second-half goals from Stuart Dallas and Alex Mowatt.
Mowatt was getting a rare opportunity in the competition, after a tough season at Elland Road.

He took it with both hands. Not only did he score the winning goal but he was Leeds United’s best player throughout the game and will have put himself back in the thought process of Garry Monk when it comes to the first-team.
One man who knows the talent Mowatt possesses well is Neil Redfearn. The former Leeds United youth and head coach helped develop Mowatt and he told TV Yorkshire yesterday that he felt the 20-year-old was outstanding in the win:
“I thought he was outstanding. Even in the first-half he was Leeds’ brightest spark.

“He had one or two efforts at goal that were the closest that Leeds came. (He) took his goal well and was involved in most of the good stuff in the final third for Leeds.
“He did himself no harm tonight.”
Mowatt has spent much of this season on the bench, with the additions of Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez seeing him have a fight on his hands for first-team football.
But he certainly looks up for the scrap based on the evidence of last night.
