Neil Redfearn has told Radio Yorkshire that Leeds United were right in letting go of the players that they did in the summer transfer window.

Leeds were quite busy in the summer transfer window and sold a number of players.

Among the players that West Yorkshire outfit decided to part company with this summer were goalkeepers Marco Silvestri and Robert Green, defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt and striker Lee Erwin.

Chris Wood, who scored as many as 27 goals in the Championship last season, was also sold to Premier League club by Leeds in the summer transfer window.

Former Leeds head coach Redfearn has praised the club’s hierarchy for parting company with the players that they did.

“There seems to be quite a few players gone out, which is probably the right thing to do to keep the harmony of the squad because all the players that are in that squad will want a clear sight of the first team if they feel they are doing the right thing, and to be fair to the powers that be, that’s what they have done, they have trimmed the size of the squad,” Redfearn told Radio Yorkshire.

Leeds were also quite busy in signing players in the summer transfer window and recruited a number of players.

Among the players that the Whites brought in were goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald, striker Jay-Roy Grot and attacking midfielder Samuel Saiz.

Leeds have made a strong start to the 2017-18 Championship campaign, and find themselves third in the league table with 11 points from five matches.
