The Leeds United striker is known mainly for his goalscoring ability.
If there is one thing Leeds United are not in short supply of at the moment it is strikers. The Yorkshire club has bags of front-men in their team. The likes of Mirco Antenucci, Steve Morison, Souleymane Doukara, Edgar Cani and Billy Sharp are all strikers at the club, currently vying for one place in Neil Redfearn’s starting line-up.
Morison has been his number one striker, but he has recently been injured, giving Sharp a run at the first-team.
The striker is a natural born goalscorer and was expected to be their leading attacker this season, but that has not been the case.
But he has two goals in his last three appearances and, against former loan club Nottingham Forest, he will hope to continue improving on his current tally of five for the season.
However, Leeds boss Redfearn says that Sharp carries more to his game than just goals. He told his press conference today, as quoted by the official Leeds United Twitter account, that Sharp deserves credit for the hard work he also puts in on the field:
That was certainly evident in the weekend win against Wigan, where Sharp ran himself into the ground for 88 minutes against a plucky Wigan side.
Leeds fans will be hoping for that, and the goals, to continue against Forest this weekend.
