Neil Redfearn has told TV Yorkshire that Leeds United defender Kyle Bartley was outstanding against Birmingham City last week.

Leeds got the better of Birmingham 3-1 away from home at St. Andrew’s in the Championship last Friday evening.

Chris Wood was the star of the show for the Whites, as the New Zealand international striker scored two goals.

Former Leeds head coach Redfearn was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of defender Bartley in the second half.

The 25-year-old centre-back, on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Swansea City, started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.

“I thought that particularly in the second half, I thought both centre-halves were immense, I thought Kyle Bartley was outstanding,” Redfearn told TV Yorkshire. “I think he steadied things around him, he used the ball well.”

Leeds deserved to win against Birmingham last week, and the three points have enhanced their chances of ending up in the top six of the Championship this season.

Garry Monk’s side are fourth in the league table at the moment with 64 points from 35 matches.

The West Yorkshire outfit are only seven points behind second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion, and perhaps they could even push for an automatic promotion place.
