Neil Redfearn said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, September 30, 2016) that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will get better.

Phillips has been on the books of Leeds since 2010 and has a contract with the West Yorkshire outfit until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The 20-year-old central midfielder has established himself as an important player in the team under head coach Garry Monk.

The youngster scored one goal and created nine chances in nine Championship appearances for the Whites so far this season.

Former Leeds head coach Redfearn believes that the more he plays, the better Phillips will get.

The former Rotherham United manager has also stated that there is too much pressure on the Leeds midfielder.

“I think maybe where people have judged Kalvin a little bit prematurely is when I came on in the scene, he sort of had two or three appearances, and then he obviously went back into the 21s,” said Redfearn on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, September 30, 2016).

“But he didn’t get that much exposure under Steve Evans or Uwe Rosler, and now he has been brought back out again. So he has not got that much first-team game time under his belt, and perhaps the expectations of him are too high at this moment in time.”

“I just think the more Kalvin plays, I just think the better he will get,” added Redfearn.
