Neil Redfearn does not expect Leeds United to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Leeds United are one of the biggest clubs in England, but the Whites have not featured in the Premier League since 2004.

The West Yorkshire outfit have been stuck in the Championship for years, but last season there was a glimmer of hope.

Under Garry Monk, who is now in charge of Championship rivals Middlesbrough, the Whites narrowly failed to finish in the top six.

Leeds were in the running for the playoffs for most of the season, and it was only due to disappointing results towards the end of the campaign that they failed to clinch a spot in the top six.

The West Yorkshire club have a new manager in charge – Thomas Christiansen – and a new owner – Andrea Radrizzani – this season, and there is optimism among the fans.

Although the Whites have not made a great start to the 2017-18 Championship campaign, there have been some positive signs.

Former Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn, though, does not expect the Whites to finish in the top six of the Championship this season – a prediction that will not please the fans at all.

“I honestly don’t think they will get in the playoffs, if I’m honest,” Inside Futbol quotes Redfearn as saying about Leeds. “But I think they will learn a lot this season.

“It’s all new, a new owner, a new manager, a new director of football, there’s a lot of newness, a new way of playing, new players.

“So I think from mid-table upwards to just outside the playoffs, probably tenth or something like that.”
