Leeds United sit sixth in the Championship table at the moment.

Speaking to TV Yorkshire, Neil Redfearn has hailed the way in which promotion-chasing Leeds United have recovered from their miserable early-season form.

Garry Monk’s side beat Norwich City 3-2 at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon to move into the elusive playoff places.

Ronaldo Vieira’s last-minute rasper was enough to earn three points for the Whites following a pulsating clash against the Canaries, many people’s favourites for promotion this season.

As it stands, Leeds now sit sixth in the Championship and some fans could justifiably pinch themselves for what has been a quite brilliant turnaround in fortunes.

Monk, who replaced Steve Evans in the summer, only managed to win one of his first six Championship games as United manager in a run of form which seemed to threaten his position at the Yorkshire club.

But fast forward a couple of months and Leeds – who are also in the quarter-final of the League Cup, where they visit Liverpool at Anfield – have won 10 of their last 12 games in all competitions.

And ex-United boss Redfearn said to TV Yorkshire that it’s simply a “fantastic achievement”, considering where they were back in September.

He said: “You want to be in the top six from day one, and you want to stay there, but to actually get in there on the back of a slow start is nothing short of a fantastic achievement.

“Leeds are the form side in this division at this moment in time. They are there to aim at and they’re having a fantastic season as it’s going.”
