The Leeds United attacker impressed versus Luton Town.

Neil Redfearn has paid tribute to the “outstanding” Kemar Roofe for his performance in Leeds United’s 1-0 League Cup win at Luton Town on Tuesday.
Leeds progressed into the third round of the competition with a hard-fought victory which was secured by debutant Tyler Denton in classy fashion.

But there were a number of impressive individual performances on the night. Roofe – one of 11 changes made by manager Garry Monk from the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday – was industrious as ever in Leeds’ attack, though his wait for a first goal goes on.
Nevertheless, former Whites manager Redfearn was full of praise for the former Oxford United striker, who has been used mainly on the flanks under Monk thus far.

“I thought Roofe was outstanding. He chases everything down, and not only that but he’s a good footballer. He’s got great craft and an eye for goal,” he told TV Yorkshire.
“He didn’t score tonight, but he was unlucky on many occasions when he broke into the box in good position and made the keeper work.”
Roofe, and indeed the 10 other players in the first XI, may not expect to start in Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
Leeds picked up their first Championship win of the season against Wednesday last time out, and if Monk has the luxury of naming the same starting lineup then he could – and probably should.
