Neil Redfearn has paid tribute to the “outstanding” Chris Wood in an interview with TV Yorkshire after Leeds United’s 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Leeds made it four wins on the bounce by edging out Mick McCarthy’s side in a close encounter at Elland Road yesterday afternoon.
It was Wood who proved the hero yet again as his 35th-minute winner proved enough for Garry Monk’s boys, whose four-match winning streak includes three Championship wins and one in the League Cup.
The New Zealand striker is doing a superb job at winning over the Whites supporters who did not think much of him at the start of the season, with this being his fourth goal in four successive games.
And Redfearn reserved special praise for the 24-year-old, claiming he was central to everything United did in the final third against Ipswich.
“There some outstanding individual performances; none less than Chris Wood,” he told TV Yorkshire.
“All-round game, I thought he was the catalyst for everything good Leeds did going forward.”
At this moment in time, Wood might be Leeds’ most important player, which seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago, but the striker, to be fair, has netted seven times in all competitions this season – a very decent return.
Monk’s side visit Bristol City on Tuesday in another stern test of their mettle, but on this form, few would back against them returning home with a win.
