Neil Redfearn has told TV Yorkshire that Leeds United winger Hadi Sacko has shown enough to suggest he could be a very good player for the club.

The 22-year-old joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon in the summer.

So far, the French winger has scored one and set up two goals in nine Championship outings for the Whites – seven starts and two appearances from the bench.

On the whole, Sacko has done okay, even if he is a bit rough around the edges, and former United boss Redfearn has suggested that his final ball needs to improve.

But overall Redfearn is pleased with the youngster and believes manager Garry Monk should certainly persevere with him.

He told TV Yorkshire: “Yeah he has [got to work on his final pass] but I think he’s done really well. It’s tough for the lad because it’s a tough division he’s come into and it’s a totally different type of football that he’s used to, and he’s done quite well.

“It’s a fair comment that his final ball is not good enough at this moment in time, but I think he’s a work in progress. He’s got to be one who is persevered with.”

Redfearn is right. Sacko has shown enough in a Leeds shirt to suggest that he could be a big asset. So much of his burgeoning career has been spent in France, and the Championship is certainly something new, so it will take time.

But so far, he looks impressive and Leeds fans will be hoping to see him kick on when the domestic calendar resumes at Derby next week.
