Neil Redfearn comments on Leeds United’s signing of Felix Wiedwald
Neil Redfearn has told TV Yorkshire that he believes Felix Wiedwald looks like a good signing for Leeds United.
The Championship club signed the 27-year-old from Werder Bremen in July and he has since established himself as Thomas Christiansen’s first choice ahead of Rob Green.
The former Germany Under-20 keeper has started Leeds’ first three league outings this season, keeping clean sheets in the last two, and former Whites boss Redfearn believes he looks like a decent acquisition so far.

He told TV Yorkshire: “He hasn’t had a great deal to do [since joining] but what he has done he’s dealt with quite comfortably.
“He’s looked composed playing out from the back and he looks like he might be a good find for Leeds.”
Some Leeds fans might disagree with Redfearn.
Though it is very early in Wiedwald’s career at Elland Road, he didn’t cover himself in glory during the 3-2 win over Bolton on the opening day and was arguably at fault for the Trotters’ first goal of the afternoon after getting caught under a high cross.
Then again, it was his debut and nerves are bound to have been an issue, but the sense is that he has not been hugely tested yet and when he does it could determine whether Christiansen keeps him between the sticks or turns to veteran Green.
