Neil Redfearn has told Radio Yorkshire that Leeds United’s lack of creativity is a problem for head coach Thomas Christiansen to solve.
Leeds suffered a third successive Championship defeat by losing 1-0 at home to Reading on Saturday.
Christiansen’s side had 15 shots on Vito Mannone’s goal but only three were on target, according to BBC Sport’s statistics.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga cut a frustrated figure as the spearhead in the Whites’ insipid attack yesterday. The big striker can only eat what he is being fed and his supporting players – Kemar Roofe, Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez – starved him of service.
When it was put to Redfearn that Mannone had little to do, he responded on Radio Yorkshire: “No [he didn’t] and that’s a problem. He had hardly anything to do. It’s not a good performance from Leeds but they’ve got to take it on the chin and move on.
“I look at big Lasogga and think he’s lacked service and lacked people running off him in support and it all looked a little one dimensional.”
It’s a very testing period for Leeds and Christiansen simply has to find a swift resolution.
The West Yorkshire side, now sixth in the Championship, have a couple of tricky games on the horizon, starting with a visit to Bristol City next weekend, before hosting Sheffield United at Elland Road.
