Leeds United striker Chris Wood is reportedly on the verge of joining Burnley in the summer transfer window.
Chris Wood was one of Leeds United’s best players last season. The New Zealand international striker scored as many as 27 goals in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign, as the Whites narrowly failed to clinch a place in the playoffs.
It was only natural to expect clubs in the Premier League club to come calling for the 25-year-old, and it seems that the striker is on his way to the top flight of English football.
On Saturday afternoon, the former Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion striker revealed on social networking site Twitter that negotiations with a club in the Premier League are going on.
According to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old is in Manchester today for a medical ahead of a move to Burnley. The Clarets will reportedly pay Leeds a transfer fee of £15 million in order to secure the services of Wood.
Leeds won without Wood on Saturday evening, getting the better of Sunderland 2-0 away from home at the Stadium of Light in the Championship.
Former Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn has given his take on the situation of Wood and told Radio Yorkshire: “I think what the good thing is from the player’s point of view they have actually drawn a line under the Chris Wood saga. They have basically said: ‘Look we are doing all right. We can score goals without Chris Wood’.”
