Neil Redfearn is a big fan of Leeds United’s Chris Wood.

Neil Redfearn has told TV Yorkshire that he’s a big fan of Leeds United hitman Chris Wood, but admitted that his finishing is not up to par at the minute.

The 25-year-old striker spurned a couple of glorious chances for Leeds on Tuesday as Thomas Christiansen’s side drew 0-0 with Fulham at Elland Road.

It was the Whites’ second successive stalemate at home, following the same result against Preston at the weekend in a game where Wood also missed great opportunities.

The big New Zealand marksman scored 30 goals in all competitions last season and although Redfearn claims he is always impressed by him in some department, the ex-Leeds coach concedes that his finishing is a little rusty at the moment.

He told TV Yorkshire: “I thought his general play was good again. You know, the lad impresses me everytime I see him.

“He’s a top player but there seems to be a little bit of gloss gone off his finishing at this moment in time.”

It seems possible that Wood has other things on his mind at the moment, given he routinely scored those types of chances last season under Garry Monk.

And it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to learn that the speculation over his future at Elland Road is having an adverse affect on his game, with Burnley, according to The Daily Star, ready to pay some £20 million to sign him this month.

That aside, Leeds fans will be hoping that their number nine gets his groove back by the weekend as Christiansen’s side visit Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
