Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has barely featured for Leeds United.
Neil Redfearn has told Radio Yorkshire that Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s performance in Leeds United’s League Cup win at Burnley last month is a probable reason as to why he has not been seen since.
The 20-year-old defender joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Manchester United but has managed only one Championship game for the Whites.
Borthwick-Jackson has not made a squad under Thomas Christiansen since the win at Turf Moor on September 19, where he was withdrawn after 60 minutes.
And Redfearn has claimed that his “shocking” performance against the Premier League side is likely the reason why Christiansen does not favour him for now.
He told Radio Yorkshire after being asked what’s happened to the youngster: “He didn’t do himself any favours at Burnley. Put it that way.
“He were shocking. What I saw [previously] half impressed me at times.”
Leeds could do with a natural left-back and it remains to be seen if Borthwick-Jackson is ushered back for the trip to Bristol City on Saturday.
Gaetano Berardi has been played there in the last three Championship games and United have lost all three; not that the Swiss defender was to blame but he is, by trade, a right-back and perhaps Christiansen is better off with a real left-back.
