Neil Redfearn has backed Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe to come good, as quoted by Inside Futbol.
Roofe, who can operate as a winger or as a striker, has been on the books of Leeds since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Oxford United.
The 24-year-old has played well when he has been deployed down the middle, but more often than not, he has been played out wide during his time at Elland Road so far.
The Englishman plays with commitment, passion and endeavour, but at times things do not work for him.
Former Leeds head coach Redfearn believes that Roofe will eventually come good.
Redfearn, though, does not seem to be a fan of Pawel Cibicki, who joined Leeds in the summer of 2017.
The 23-year-old, who can play as a striker or as a winger, moved to the Whites from Malmo.
The former Sweden Under-21 international attacker has struggled for playing time so far this season under head coach Thomas Christiansen.
“I still think Kemar Roofe might end up being alright for Leeds,” Inside Futbol quotes Redfearn as saying. “I think he has done okay up to this point and he has more goals in him. I just think there is more to scope to him and I don’t think whoever had him have got the best out of him.”
“I watched Cibicki against Burnley and I watched how he plays,” said Redfearn about Cibicki. “I am like anyone else and I am saying they are not doing this or that, but you can see what they were trying to do [with him].
“A lot of stuff that’s worked on at the Championship level is destroying – closing down, tackling, competing and you can see him look dismayed when they are actually coming into it.
“I am not necessarily blaming the players here because they do what they do and they might have watched him in his environment and say, ‘that’s a player’.”
