Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers signed Bruno Alves and Graham Dorrans in the summer transfer window.

Neil Murray has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Bruno Alves could make a big difference for Rangers.

Scottish Premiership club Rangers signed Alves in the summer transfer window following the defender’s departure from Italian club Cagliari at the end of the 2016-17 season.

The 35-year-old centre-back is past his best, but in his prime the Portugal international defender was one of the best players in his position in the world.

Alves has played for some of the most well-known clubs in the world, such as FC Porto and Zenit Saint Petersburg, and the defender also won the UEFA European Championship with Portugal in 2016 in France.

Former Rangers midfielder Murray, who is 44 years of age, has suggested that the ex-Fenerbahce star could make a big difference for Pedro Caixinha’s side.

Murray also seems to have been pleased with the signing of Graham Dorrans by Rangers. The Gers have recruited Dorrans from Norwich City in the Championship in England in the summer transfer window.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers had to pay the Canaries a transfer fee of £1.5 million in order to secure the services of the former West Bromwich Albion and Livingston midfielder.

“You’d like to believe Bruno Alves will make a big difference,” Murray told The Scottish Sun. “He’s a leader with a proven track record and even if he’s not the captain, will play a captain’s part.

“He will encourage, he will motivate, he will talk. He will lead by example. He will be the most important player along with Dorrans. He will be the one who sets the tone and makes sure they don’t lose goals.

“I’m not sure there are enough of the others to handle everything that goes with being a Rangers player, but you’d hope Dorrans and Alves would lead by example and make a big difference.”
