Neil Mellor has praised Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson on Twitter for his performance for the Under-23 side against their Everton counterparts.
The former Liverpool striker was at the match at Southport FC’s Haig Avenue to watch the Liverpool Under-23 side take on their Everton counterparts in Premier League 2 on Monday evening.
How did Leighton Clarkson play?
Liverpool and Everton played out a 1-1 draw in what was a very entertaining and enjoyable game.
Clarkson had a chance to etch his name on the scoresheet, but he found the side-netting following a neat one-two with Jake Cain.
The teenager looked very accomplished in midfield, showed some nice skills and created chances, leaving some Liverpool fans impressed.
One for the future
Clarkson is a creative midfielder who has progressed well in the Liverpool academy over the years and is now playing well for the Under-23 side.
The teenager has already made his debut for the Liverpool first team, but he is one for the future.
For now, the youngster needs to work hard and continue to develop and progress.
