Neil McCann has stated that Celtic should be looking for a ‘centre-back, right-back and left-back’ this summer in order to improve their squad for next season.

The BBC Sport pundit stated that the Bhoys have a ‘world-class’ operator playing at left-back in Kieran Tierney, but he believes the highly-rated ace ‘needs cover’ for next season.

Neil Lennon helped Celtic to the Scottish Cup on Saturday afternoon when his team beat Hearts at Hampden to secure a historic treble-treble.

Speaking to Sportscene on BBC Sport Scotland (25/05/2019 at 10:50 pm), McCann shared his thoughts on Celtic’s summer transfer plans ahead of next season.

“He has players to find,” McCann told Sportscene. “You are looking at centre-backs, right-back as a must, you have got a world-class left-back, in my opinion in Tierney, who will continue to improve, but he needs cover as well. You have Jonny Hayes operating in there.

“There are players that he has to go and find. I am just wondering who is doing the recruitment now. Lee Congerton has now gone.

“Whether Brendan Rodgers has still got a wee bit of a list sitting somewhere that he might be able to blow the dust off and go after that, but it’s an interesting summer for them, but one Neil will be looking forward to.”

At this moment in time, the Scottish Premiership champions will be celebrating yet another domestic domination, which has seen them add yet another trophy haul to their cabinet.

But, sooner rather than later, their focus will turn to the next campaign and trying to secure their ninth Premiership title win in a row.

It remains to be seen what type of business the club undertakes over the summer, but there is no doubt that the senior figures within the dressing room will play a huge part again next season.
