Rangers thrashed Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup on Wednesday night.
Neil McCann has questioned whether Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos enjoys playing with a partner following his stunning four goals during his side’s 5-0 win over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup on Wednesday night.
Steven Gerrard’s side emphatically dispatched their opponents in the cup replay after recording a goalless draw in the first match when they were without their suspended star man.
Andy Halliday scored the other goal of the match as Rangers will now travel to bitter rivals Aberdeen in the next round – Morelos has been sent off each time he has played against the Dons this season.
Nonetheless, against Killie, Morelos played up front on his own and McCann waxed-lyrical about his performance but raised a huge question about the highly-talented ace.
“He’s got everything for me as a centre forward,” McCann told BBC Sport.
“He can play on his own although I’m not sure how much he enjoys playing with a partner. Certainly when he’s alone or operating with two wide men, he enjoys it. He’s so powerful. Although he’s not a big man he’s got a good leap on him.”
Morelos’ return into the side and his performance to boot just goes to prove how important he is to Gerrard and his plans on lifting some silverware this season.
In the last two games, while the 22-year-old was on the sidelines because of a suspension, his team failed to score a goal, including dropping valuable points at home to St Johnstone in the Premiership.
Over the course of the season, he has played 39 games in all competitions for his side, scoring an impressive 27 goals, according to transfermarkt.
Now, he and his teammates will turn their attention to the Premiership and reducing the eight-point gap on leaders Celtic when they travel to Hamilton on Sunday.
