Celtic manager Neil Lennon has given his take on speculation linking the club with Steven Fletcher, as quoted in The Daily Record.

Fletcher is a free agent at the moment, having left Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship in England this summer.

Former Hibernian forward Tam McManus has claimed on Twitter that the 33-year-old Scotland international is “very keen” on a move to Celtic this summer.

When asked about the striker, Lennon told The Daily Record that Fletcher would be on “a long list of players that I am sure a lot of clubs are looking at”.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Fletcher made 23 starts and four substitute appearances in the Championship for Wednesday this season, scoring 13 goals and providing two assists in the process.

The Scotland international striker made 32 starts and eight substitute appearances in the league for the Owls during the 2018-19 campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Celtic transfer this summer?

Fletcher is a good targetman who scores goals when played to his strengths, and he has a wealth of experience.

The 33-year-old would be a good signing for Celtic in the short term, as the Glasgow giants are aiming to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row in 2020-21.

Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths are the two main strikers at the Hoops at the moment, and manager Lennon could do with another quality player upfront.
