Celtic boss Neil Lennon is keen to snap up Brandon Barker and bring him to Parkhead, according to reports.
Neil Lennon could be delighted if Celtic land Brandon Barker this summer, as he is a player who the Bhoys boss rates very highly.
Lennon has already managed Barker once when with Hibernian, and the Preston North End man seriously impressed during his time in Scotland.
Lennon got the very best out of Barker, and was effusive with his praise of the winger back in 2017.
The Celtic boss said to the Scotsman two years ago: “He has brought an extra dimension to the way we play. We have [Martin] Boyle one side and him the other, they are a real threat.
“I just enjoy watching him play. He is a throwback. He wants to get to the byeline, he wants to get inside, he has that dynamic burst of pace and he wants to take people on.
“Some people say his end product is not great but that’s nit-picking completely. When you have three players hanging off you and you are running 40 yards with the ball at that pace, it is a very difficult thing to do.
“He is a very exciting player. I have admired him for a long time. On Wednesday you can see why. He was breath-taking.”
Lennon never managed to sign Barker permanently when he was in charge at Hibernian, but there is now a chance he could do so at Celtic.
The Bhoys are said to want to bring Barker to Glasgow by the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old appears to have lost his way a bit at Preston, after having a minimal impact, so a move to Celtic may well appeal.
And it is no surprise to see Lennon going after the England youth international, given his previous glowing praise of the prospect.
