The Celtic manager is impressed by his midfielder but thinks he could contribute even more.

McGregor has already started the 2019/20 in blistering fashion, netting in games against FK Sarajevo and Nomme Kalju.
He was a crucial presence in the Hoops midfield last term, playing more minutes than anyone else in world football, but his tally of six goals in all competitions can be improved upon.
That’s what Lennon is looking for, telling The Evening Times: “I’m delighted with [Callum] McGregor, too. I think there are a lot of goals in him and he can score more. He’s got off to a great start.
“It’s about getting more firepower into them and the more chances they create, the more chances we have of scoring more goals.”
McGregor’s first task in matches this season will be locking down the midfield area while dictating tempo and possession.
However, if he can show a bit more attacking ambition and support teammates like Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard through the middle then a lot would be added to Celtic’s game. He has the finishing ability to punish opposition teams.

Celtic showing a more ruthlessness this season compared to last could boost their title chances significantly. The Hoops ultimately finished nine points clear of rivals Rangers last season, but actually scored less league goals than the Ibrox side.
Killing off teams, especially those with deep defences at Celtic Park, has been a problem in recent months. If Lennon can bring more goals into the equation through the likes of McGregor then they’ll only become even more powerful.
