Christopher Jullien joined Neil Lennon’s Celtic in the summer transfer window.
Van Dijk was on the books of Celtic from 2013 until 2015 before moving to Southampton and is now at Liverpool, having joined the Reds from the Saints in January 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £75 million.
The Netherlands international has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the world.
Jullien has been playing brilliantly for Celtic in recent weeks, having moved to the Glasgow giants from Toulouse in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £7 million.
The 26-year-old central defender has established himself as an important player for the Hoops, and manager Lennon has urged the Frenchman to use Van Dijk as a benchmark.
Lennon told The Glasgow Evening Times: “Van Dijk is Van Dijk. I want Jullien to use him as a benchmark to try and get as far up the football scale as he possibly can because he has really good attributes to do that.”
Hatem Abd Elhamed injury
Meanwhile, The Scottish Sun has claimed that Celtic defender Hatem Abd Elhamed could miss the Scottish League Cup final against bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers this season.
The 28-year-old is suffering with a groin injury and is in a race against time to be fit for the big game against Rangers next month, according to the report.
