The young Celtic attacker impressed his manager this afternoon.
Mikey Johnston appears to have impressed his Celtic boss Neil Lennon today.
Lennon’s troops stuttered in a major way and needed extra time to knock Dunfermline out of the League Cup with a narrow 2-1 win at Parkhead.
It was Johnston who fired Celtic into the lead on 55 minutes, but the defending champions, who hadn’t lost a game in this competition since January 2016, were pegged back in the final quarter.
There were signs of a Champions League hangover for the Hoops after their demoralising exit to Cluj in midweek.
But Johnston appeared to be at it this afternoon and Lennon has singled him out.
He told The Record: “Mikey had cramp, but I was very impressed with him.”
Lennon’s side have a Europa League playoff with AIK in Glasgow on Thursday and it’s worrying that Johnston picked up a knock, but thankfully it’s only cramp.
The 20-year-old has been superb for the Bhoys so far this season, even if some of his goals came in games that you’d expect him to score in.
