Hibernian boss Neil Lennon has told the Daily Express that he completely disagrees with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers’ comments about John McGinn.

Celtic and Hibs drew 2-2 at the weekend, and after the match Rodgers was not particularly complementary about McGinn’s performance.

Rodgers stated that Scott Brown has dominated McGinn during the contest, with the Scottish international helping to win the midfield battle for Celtic.

However, Lennon sensed that Rodgers had misread the game, and claimed that McGinn more than held his own during the contest.

“I totally disagree with that,” Lennon said.

“McGinn was superb, physically, his football was good.

“I don’t remember Broony dominating the game and in the last 20 minutes John got stronger when we put him back in his natural position. He was magnificent.

“Maybe Brendan sees it differently from me. I thought McGinn was a cut above.”

McGinn has actually been linked with a move to Celtic in recent times, but Rodgers’ comments suggest that deal may not be on his agenda any time soon.

Rodgers was understandably frustrated at full-time yesterday, as his Bhoys side failed to hold on to claim a victory.

Celtic were 2-0 up at Easter Road, but conceded twice late on to let their lead slip.

Celtic are next in action on Wednesday evening, when they take on Hamilton at Parkhead.
