Neil Lennon has suggested on Sky Sports that Celtic’s recent run of results in the Scottish Premiership is due to the defeat they suffered to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Ibrox.

Rangers got the better of Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby back on December 29, 2018.

The win saw the Gers move level on points with the Hoops, and it looked like Brendan Rodgers’s side’s stranglehold of the league title was under threat.

Since then, Celtic have stepped up their game in Scotland and have been winning matches regularly in the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops are now eight points clear of second-placed Rangers at the top of the table, and it appears that they are going to win the title yet again.

Former Celtic manager Lennon believes that the defeat to Rangers at Ibrox sparked Celtic’s revival.

Lennon said on Sky Sports: “I think that may have been the kickstart that they needed again.”

Celtic are back in action on Thursday evening when they take on Valencia away from home in Spain in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie.

As for Rangers, the Gers will face Kilmarnock at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup fifth-round replay on Wednesday evening.
