Celtic boss Neil Lennon has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that the club ‘might have’ agreed to sign a player during last night’s win over FK Sarajevo.

Celtic were 3-1 up from the first leg of their Champions League qualifying tie with the Bosnian side, meaning they already had one foot in the next round.

The Bhoys won 2-1 last night thanks to goals from Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor, securing a 5-2 aggregate win and a tie with Estonian outfit Nomme Kalju.

Celtic will hope to have reinforcements in place for that tie, with Lennon hoping to add more quality to his side having already signed Christopher Jullien, Luca Connell and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo.

After last night’s game, Lennon was asked whether Celtic agreed to sign a player during the match, and he offered a very interesting response.

“I might have done,” said Lennon. “I can’t tell you. Nothing confirmed yet,” he added, clearly hinting that a player may well be on the way to Parkhead.

Lennon wouldn’t give much away, but it’s interesting that his comments emerged just as heightened reports about Hatem Abd Elhamed broke in his native Israel.

Walla claim that Celtic have agreed a €2million (£1.8million) deal to sign Abd Elhamed, with the Hapoel Be’er Sheva centre back seemingly close to a move.

It’s now assumed that Abd Elhamed is who Lennon was talking about, but we’ll have to see whether he has any more surprises up his sleeve.
