Celtic winger Mohamed Elyounoussi could feature tonight.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told Celtic TV that Mohamed Elyounoussi is in contention to face CFR Cluj in the Europa League this evening.

The Bhoys are back in European action tonight, having drawn 1-1 away at Rennes in their first group stage game of this season’s Europa League.

That was a more than respectable point, but the onus will now be on Lennon’s side to go and claim a home win against a familiar foe in Cluj.

The Romanian side famously dumped Celtic out of the Champions League qualifiers in August with a stunning display at Parkhead, and they’ll be looking to repeat the trick having beaten Lazio in their first group stage game.

Lennon will want to exorcise some demons from that defeat, and that may mean an appearance for Southampton winger Elyounoussi, who joined a couple of weeks after Celtic’s exit to Cluj.

The Norwegian has the quality to make a huge impact given his European history with Basel, but he has only played 124 minutes for Celtic, meaning he has a lack of match practice under his belt.

Lennon has now admitted that the 25-year-old has ‘looked good’ in training and will ‘definitely’ be in contention for tonight’s game, with the Celtic boss feeling that his big loan signing is now up to speed in terms of fitness and is ready to make an impact.

“He’ll definitely come into contention,” said Lennon. “He’s got good European pedigree and he’s really up to speed now in terms of his fitness. He’s had a few run-outs now and he’s looked good in training as well,” he added.
