Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic’s interim boss Neil Lennon has told the Daily Record that he wants to give a ‘huge amount of credit’ to predecessor Brendan Rodgers following the latest title win.
The Bhoys travelled to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon, and knew that even a point would have secured an eighth straight league title.
Celtic got more than a point though, as they hammered the Dons 3-0 to kickstart the celebrations, with Mikael Lustig on the scoresheet in the first half.
Jozo Simunovic and Odsonne Edouard added second half goals to wrap up a comfortable win, with Celtic moving ever closer to a tenth straight title.
The result kept up Lennon’s unbeaten record as Celtic boss since arriving in February, having stepped in to replace Rodgers following his move to Leicester City.
Lennon has put himself at the front of the queue for the Celtic job full time, but made sure he sent a message to Rodgers after the title was secured.
Lennon praised his players, but also credited Rodgers, admitting that he didn’t want to leave him out of the celebrations having put the foundations in for the successful season, believing his legacy remains intact despite his exit.
“I’m very proud of the players, the way they handled the occasion, but I have to give Brendan a huge amount of credit. I don’t want to miss him out because he left the foundations and his legacy is very much intact here.
