Neil Lennon and Celtic players weren’t pleased with Olivier Ntcham’s comments.
Neil Lennon has told Sky Sports that even some of the Celtic players aren’t happy with team-mate Olivier Ntcham following the explosive comments about his future.
The former Manchester City midfielder said earlier this month that he was disappointed to miss out on a move to Porto last summer, while admitting to being flattered by speculation over a switch to Marseille.
Ntcham,a £4.5 million signing by Brendan Rodgers in 2017 [BBC Sport], struggled for form under Lennon after the Northern Irishman took the reins at Celtic in February.
The 23-year-old was given an extended break after representing France in the Under-21 European Championships this summer.
But Lennon told Sky Sports that he’ll be speaking to his midfielder about the comments and his ‘mindset’ when he returns to Glasgow.
He said: “That will be addressed when Olivier comes back.
“I think it is fair to say that a lot of us, whether it be management, players or people at the club were not satisfied with the comments. When I speak to Olivier it will be done privately but you can imagine, we find the comments untimely and not particularly accurate.
“He still has a future [at Celtic], he is under contract. But I will be speaking to him about his mindset and his attitude toward the club as well which, the way it came across, didn’t look good.”
Ntcham is a big player for the Bhoys, but no player is bigger than Celtic and if he thinks he is then maybe it’s time Lennon wielded the axe and got shot of him.
If the players are genuinely frustrated with him, it’s no good for the squad and perhaps the best course of action is to get rid.
At the time of his arrival, Ntcham was Celtic’s most expensive signing for a decade, since Scott Brown’s move from Hibernian in 2007.
