Rangers new boy Sheyi Ojo has made an outspoken start to life at Ibrox.

Rangers winger Sheyi Ojo has stoked the rivalry with Celtic this week – and Bhoys boss Neil Lennon has told the Daily Record that he’s not particularly interested.

The Gers have enjoyed a particularly strong summer transfer window, bringing in George Edmundson, Filip Helander, Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart, Jake Hastie and Ojo himself.

With some impressive pre-season displays and steady Europa League progression, Rangers look to have taken a step forward this summer – and that of course poses the question of a title push.

Rangers finished nine points behind champions Celtic last season, with Steven Gerrard only managing to cut the gap by three points from the previous season.

Rangers will be hoping to really push Celtic close this time around, and it wouldn’t really be a pre-season without a Gers player talking up their chances of ending the domination of their Old Firm rivals.

It’s winger Ojo who has stepped forward with the comments this week, as the Liverpool loanee has suggested that he has joined the best team in Scotland, claiming Celtic are behind Rangers now.

Unsurprisingly, Celtic boss Lennon has been asked about those comments, and suggested that he’s paying little attention to what Ojo or anyone else is saying about the Bhoys.

Lennon backed his players to do their talking on the pitch rather than off it, noting that they’ve done that ‘very well’ for years whilst Rangers players big up their chances.

“I don’t know what it’s based on, but he is entitled to his opinion,” said Lennon. “It just washes over us. I don’t think our players have to justify themselves in any way, shape or form. To be fair to them, over the last few years they’ve done that very well,” he added.
