Celtic beat St Mirren 2-0 away from home last night.

Neil Lennon, Interim manager of Celtic looks on ahead of the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 31, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told the club’s official website that he felt playmaker Ryan Christie added ‘pizzazz’ to his side against St Mirren last night.

The Bhoys were still on a high after beating Old Firm rivals Rangers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon, but had to follow it up with a strong result and performance at St Mirren.

Loanee Timothy Weah was given a rare start under Lennon, and he justified the decision by putting Celtic in front after 15 minutes.

Midfielder Olivier Ntcham could have made it 2-0, but saw his penalty saved as Celtic couldn’t quite find the second goal to kill the game off.

Eventually, that second goal did arrive as midfielder Christie came off the bench to score an 85th minute goal, wrapping up all three points for Celtic – meaning a win over Livingston this weekend could seal the title, if results go their way.

After more than a month out of action through a hamstring injury, Christie is now back in the fold, and picked up where he left off having enjoyed a resurgent season.

Speaking after the final whistle, boss Lennon admitted Christie’s return is ‘huge’ for Celtic, feeling that he brought ‘pizzazz’ to the display last night despite only being on the pitch for half an hour.

Lennon raved about the Scot, feeling he’s ‘well-balanced’ and brings a spark to the Celtic side, with the Bhoys boss seemingly loving watching Christie in action – meaning we may well see him start against Livingston this weekend.

“Getting Ryan Christie back is huge for us,” said Lennon. “You can see how he’s affected the game when he came on. There’s a spark and he brings a level of creativity to our game, a little bit of pizzazz. He can go past people, he’s well-balanced, he’s got a real enthusiasm for the game, and I thought he just gave us a bit of a lift,” he added.
