Celtic eased passed a very poor Aberdeen side on Sunday, with Jeremie Frimpong being one of the star performers for Neil Lennon’s side.
Neil Lennon has admitted that Jeremie Frimpong’s quick progression has surprised him after Celtic recorded a comfortable 4-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday.
Despite the Dons being one of the top sides in the Scottish Premiership in recent seasons, they were abject against Celtic, who dispatched them in their own back yard.
As per, Odsonne Edouard put Celtic ahead after 10 minutes, before Frimpong also got on the scoresheet five minutes later. James Forrest and Mohamed Elyounoussi then added to Aberdeen’s misery before the half time break.
Speaking to Sportsound on BBC Sport (27/10/19), Lennon was full of praise for his highly-rated youngster, who has taken to senior football in Scotland like a duck to water.
“We hope so [we have a player in there],” Lennon told BBC Sport. “He has made a great start to his career and we are hoping that continues.
“He gives so much energy and enthusiasm, and quality. So, he’s probably made quicker progression than we thought but we are obviously delighted with him.”
Frimpong grabbed an assist in his last game when Celtic dispatched Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, as he has now backed up his start with a goal.
These will all be encouraging signs for Celtic, who will be pleased that their summer signing from Manchester City is showcasing a very bright future.
Celtic have had a history of picking out the best of talents, and it seems as though they are once again onto another gem.
