Hibernian manager Neil Lennon speaks highly of Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on August 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has told Capital City Press that Celtic midfielder Scott Brown is underrated.

Lennon managed Brown when he was the Celtic manager from 2010 until 2014.

“Broony had a brilliant season last year and started this season really well for club and country,” Lennon told Capital City Press. “I think he’s under-rated, in terms of his footballing ability.

“People talk about the gallusness and aggression. But Broony can really play, he can really handle the ball.

“He’s a fantastic athlete and a great presence on the pitch, as well. He has matured. You do that with age and he’s looked after himself really well, is in great condition.

“He’s a huge figure in that team not just because of his personality. but because of the player he is.”

Brown is one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership and has been superb for Celtic over the past few years.

The Scotland international has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million.

Despite being 32 years of age, Brown remains one of the best players for Celtic and is going as strong as ever.
