Neil Lennon has promised to make Scott Brown a key player in his Celtic side.

Neil Lennon, Interim manager of Celtic looks on ahead of the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 31, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Neil Lennon has told the Telegraph that he believes Scott Brown’s form at Celtic has improved since he took charge.

There was some uncertainty over whether Brown would stay at Parkhead when Brendan Rodgers was in charge.

Rodgers had always praised Brown publicly, but there was a feeling that the experienced midfielder was becoming a less prominent member of Celtic’s starting line-up.

However, Lennon has immediately made Brown a key player for the Bhoys again after taking charge.

And Lennon feels that Brown’s performances in recent weeks have proven just how vital he still is for Celtic.

“He is a great captain, a great leader and, in games like that, you really need him. He is playing some great football at the minute,” Lennon said after the Old-Firm derby.

“Two or three months ago, there was all this self-doubt, all this uncertainty about his future. You could see that in his performances as well, but I am glad he stayed, especially for him.”

Scott Brown of Celtic celebrates following the Scottish Cup Final between Motherwell and Celtic at Hampden Park on May 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Brown was in excellent form last weekend, as Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 at Parkhead.

Brown managed to wind up multiple Rangers players and put in an impressive performance in the centre of the pitch, as Celtic picked up the three points.

Celtic are now 13 points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and seemingly on their way to winning yet another title.
