Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that he wants to have Southampton duo Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi in his squad for next season, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.

Elyounoussi, who can operate as a winger or as a forward, was on loan at Celtic from the Saints this past season.

Goalkeeper Forster also spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at the Hoops from Premier League club Southampton.

Lennon has said that he wants to keep the two players for next season as well, and he has also said that talks are going on with Craig Gordon over the goalkeeper staying at Celtic Park for the 2020-21 campaign.

According to The Scottish Sun, both Forster and Elyounoussi are training with Celtic at the moment, with their loan spell at the Hoops to run out at the end of the month.

Lennon told The Scottish Sun about Forster and Elyounoussi: “I don’t think it’s unrealistic. They are two players who added a lot to the squad last year and made a really positive contribution.

“So they are two players we would dearly love to have for next season. But we just have to wait and see. They are not our players.

“We will see how negotiations go. It’s good to see them back and involved and it would give us continuity if we could get those two in.”

Lennon added about Gordon: “Talks are ongoing between the club and Craig.

“We haven’t seen him, he is not at training at the minute. Hopefully we get that resolved sooner rather than later.”

Celtic stay

Forster was one of the best players for Celtic this past season, while Elyounoussi did well in the games in which he featured, with the winger having had injury problems.

With the Hoops aiming to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row next season, the two Southampton-owned players would be great for the team.

Meanwhile, SDNA has claimed that Celtic are facing competition from Swiss club Basel for AEK goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas.
