Celtic seemingly won’t be signing Silas Wamangituka this summer.

Celtic are weighing up their options this summer, both in terms of a manager and new signings, with many questions to be answered.

Interim boss Neil Lennon is in the box seat to be Brendan Rodgers’ permanent successor, to the point where he’s even attending games to look for new signings.

Lennon watched the Ligue 2 clash between Paris FC and Valenciennes last week, and The Scottish Sun subsequently reported that a £4.5million move for Paris striker Silas Wamangituka was in the offing.

However, Lennon has now told The Daily Record that it was not Wamangituka he was watching, but he stopped short of revealing just who he had his eye on.

Lennon shouldn’t be so quick to rule out Wamangituka though, and he may actually be making a mistake by not moving to bring the teenage hitman to Parkhead this summer.

The 19-year-old has starred in Ligue 2 this season with nine goals in 27 games, and the 6ft 2in front man has earned praise thanks to his power as a target man, whilst also having a decent turn of pace.

Celtic need to be clever in the transfer market, and Wamangituka – a promising striker linked with a host of huge clubs around Europe – would be a savvy investment, especially as Celtic aren’t exactly blessed with a bunch of striking options.

The teenager would be able to develop behind Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths whilst earning Celtic money in the future, so whilst Lennon is ruling out Wamangituka, it would be little surprise if the Bhoys end up regretting that decision.
