Neil Lennon is hoping to sign as many as six players for Celtic this summer.

Manager of Hibs Neil Lennon looks on during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park on October 21, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic wrapped up a deal for David Turnbull on Friday in what was their first summer transfer – but they won’t be stopping there.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he wants as many as six new players arriving at Lennoxtown over the coming months.

Lennon helped Celtic win the treble Treble last month after taking over from Brendan Rodgers in February, eventually winning the job on a permanent basis.

They are only two Scottish Premiership titles from the next milestone – 10-in-a-row – and the Northern Irishman revealed to The Glasgow Evening Times that he’ll be seriously bolstering his squad this summer.

He said: “[I hope to bring in] maybe half a dozen. It’s important because we have priorities – the league and hopefully also Champions League qualification which would set the season up for us.

“We are working very hard to find the right quality of player within our wage bracket to make us better.”

Lennon, whose side kick off their Champions League campaign with a tie against Sarajevo next month, has less than two weeks to sign players to have them eligible for European competition.

The deadline for this is July 4, but the Bhoys manager is hopeful that some more new faces could arrive by then.

“We are hoping to get two or three in by [July 4th]. Hopefully we can get them out to Austria and integrate them into the squad as quickly as possible.”

Celtic's new interim manager Neil Lennon is unveiled with his assistant John Kennedy at Celtic Park on February 27, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.
