Lennon has signed the Englishman, who was released by Celtic in June, for both the Bhoys and Hibernian.
Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has told the Edinburgh Evening News he is keeping an eye on Kris Commons’ situation, with a view to signing the former Celtic playmaker in the New Year.
Fitness issues have prevented Commons from a return to the game following his Celtic Park exit in June.
But his last exposure to first team football came during a loan spell at Hibernian in January.
Asked if Commons, whom he also signed while manager of Celtic, could return to Easter Road in the near future, Lennon replied: “There’s nothing at the minute with Commons.
“I don’t think he’s back in full training yet. We didn’t feel he would be ready until the turn of the year anyway, so we’ll just keep an eye on that.”
Commons certainly made an impression at Hibernian, for whom he scored two goals and created the same amount in five Championship appearances.
Though 34, the Englishman boasts a wealth of experience in Scotland’s top flight – a division in which he has played 149 games, scored or created 119 goals and won on five occasions with Celtic.
