Neil Lennon’s troops lost to Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers on Wednesday.
Hibernian boss and Celtic legend Neil Lennon has told Sky Sports that his side “battered” Rangers in Wednesday night’s 2-1 defeat at Easter Road.
Two goals before the break from Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos saw Rangers overturn a 1-0 deficit inflicted by Lewis Stevenson’s ninth-minute opener.
It was a night where Lennon’s Hibs side could and probably should have scored more goals, but Simon Murray and Brandon Barker – who hit the post twice – both missed good chances for the hosts.
In addition to that, Rangers were fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty after David Bates appeared to handle the ball from a cross.
Lennon is no stranger to meeting and beating the Ibrox side, whether it’s as a player or a manager, and the former Celtic midfielder and manager says that’s the “biggest battering” that he has even given the Gers.
He told Sky Sports: “I thought we were sensational and didn’t get what we deserved. They were battered. I’ve been involved with Celtic but that was probably biggest battering I’ve given Rangers.
“They camped in for the second half and we controlled it. We hit the post twice, worked the goalkeeper but missed good chances during the first half.”
Graeme Murty has now won six of his eight games in charge of Rangers, with this being a fourth successive victory.
But although Murty’s side are second in the Premiership, they remain five points behind Celtic who won 3-1 at Parkhead.
