Celtic have let Marvin Compper leave the club for Duisburg.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told the Daily Record that letting defender Marvin Compper leave the club for Duisburg was the best for all involved.
Mercifully, Compper’s time at Celtic has come to an end, and with it, one of the club’s worst signings in recent memory has gone.
Back in January 2018, Brendan Rodgers was looking for a little more experience in his back line. He pursued a deal for Compper, who was down the pecking order at RB Leipzig.
Having turned out for Hoffenheim and Fiorentina in the past, Compper arrived with great pedigree, and at 32, looked to still have enough in the tank.
The German was seen as the veteran presence Celtic needed at the back, but his time at Parkhead will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons.
Compper remarkably made just one appearance in 18 months for Celtic, with no explanation really given for his absence, though most will just assume that he was either not fit enough or simply not good enough.

Compper left the club for German side Duisburg on Tuesday, and Lennon has now admitted that the move was best for all, admitting that he simply wasn’t going to fit into his plans at Celtic, so it’s best for him to go.
“He got a player-coaching job at Duisburg but that one was probably best for both parties,” said Lennon. “He wasn’t going to fit in our plans so it was best he moves on and we can fill a gap now,” he added.
That’s the second Rodgers flop that Lennon has let go in a matter of days, as Youssouf Mulumbu has gone too, meaning Celtic are offloading some of his worst, ageing signings, hopefully with the plan of bringing in quality signings this summer to replace them.
