Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told The Herald that Olivier Ntcham’s performance at the weekend was unacceptable.

Ntcham had an off day against Hibernian and was substituted early in the second half.

Ntcham has not played regularly in 2019 due to injury, but Lennon said he still expected better.

Celtic brought on Tom Rogic in his place, who is also working his way back to full fitness.

He said: “He just had one of those days and you don’t expect that from a player of his quality.

“He looked tremendous in training that’s why we went with him.

“We feel Tom’s not at full fitness yet. Olivier had one of those days but from what we saw in training this week he was ready to play. It certainly isn’t an attitude problem.”

Celtic drew the game 0-0, but the reaction after the game was so miserable from a Celtic perspective that it could have been mistaken for a defeat.

The performance was uninspiring and Celtic need to improve ahead of their two big games on the horizon.

They face Rangers in just over a fortnight and then have the Scottish Cup final against Hearts.

Ntcham is playing for the right to feature in these matches and needs to improve if he is to secure a starting place.
