Neil Lennon criticises challenge on Rangers’ Lassana Coulibaly

Glasgow Rangers’ players were angered by a challenge on Lassana Coulibaly in the Ibrox side’s goalless draw.

Neil Lennon has told BT Sport’s post-match coverage of Rangers’ latest Scottish Premiership clash (19/12 from 19:15) that he was not at all impressed by the challenge on Gers midfielder Lassana Coulibaly.

Rangers felt that Hibs midfielder Ryan Porteous should have been sent off for a swipe at Coulibaly during the second-half at Easter Road. Coulibaly had knocked the ball well out of reach before being taken out.

It would have surprised some when Craig Thomson produced a yellow card. Understandably, the travelling Rangers fans were not happy with the decision in the goalless draw.

And Lennon conceded after the game that he was not pleased with the challenge from his own player, and admitted that he could have had few complaints if he had seen red.

“I wasn’t impressed with it at all. I wasn’t happy about it. It could be deemed a red. It’s reckless, but Craig saw it to be a yellow. Not convinced it’s a complete red, I need to see it again,” he told BT Sport.

It was an extremely frustrating night for Rangers who were knocked off top spot in the Scottish Premiership. They dominated much of the game and had more than enough chances to secure the victory.

They have the opportunity to get some revenge on Hibs however, with Neil Lennon bringing his side to Ibrox on Boxing Day. No home team has won this fixture in the top flight since 2012, so Rangers will hope that they can finally end that run next week.
