Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told the Daily Record that the club have accepted a bid for playmaker Tom Rogic.
The Bhoys have brought in Motherwell playmaker David Turnbull, and it now seems that Rogic will be leaving.
Speaking ahead of today’s game with Motherwell, Lennon has confirmed that Rogic seems to be leaving Parkead.
A bid from an unnamed club has been accepted, and whilst Lennon claims that Rogic’s situation isn’t affected by Turnbull’s arrival, the Australian is on his way out.
“Negotiations are ongoing with Tom. We have accepted a bid,” said Lennon. “He is not fit at the moment, he has a slight ankle problem, but whether he stays or goes… David Turnbull coming in doesn’t affect Tom’s role,” he added.
So, where is Rogic going? The safe bet would be Qatar, as the Daily Mail reported last week that a £4million bid had been made from a team there.
That would tie in with Celtic accepted a cash bid for the 27-year-old, certainly more so than suggestions of a swap deal.
The Mail suggested last week that Celtic were willing to send Rogic to Brighton and Hove Albion in a swap deal for Shane Duffy, with the Seagulls keen on Rogic.
That doesn’t quite fit with what Lennon is talking about though, so a swap for Duffy seems much less likely than a move to Qatar as things stand.
